Some events are simply part of the Asturian summer, and the Campomar Fair in Tapia de Casariego is one of them. Every year, this corner of western Asturias celebrates what it does best: paying tribute to the bond between land and sea, two ways of life that have shaped the character of the region for generations.

The fair was born in 1993 with a clear purpose: to support rural life and to honour the work of those who farm the land and fish the sea. More than three decades later, it still brings together over a hundred exhibitors who fill Tapia with colour, aromas and fine produce: cheeses, honeys, flavours of the Cantabrian Sea, vegetables from the garden and all that local craftsmanship and cuisine you can only find here.

But Campomar is far more than a market. Over these days there are workshops, tastings, live music, dance performances, traditional contests and even cider-pouring championships, to enjoy the celebration with all your senses.

And if anything is truly moving, it is the tributes. The fair always reserves a special place for its elders, those grandparents of the land and the sea who, through their quiet effort, made possible everything we celebrate today.
