From 13 to 18 October, Castropol hosts the IV Jornadas Ornitológicas Ría del Eo (4th Ría del Eo Birdwatching Days). Birdwatchers, experts and families come together in one of the most valuable natural areas in western Asturias for observing birds.

13, 14 and 15 October are set aside for activities with schools. The programme open to the public runs from Friday 16 to Sunday 18, with a round table on responsible birdwatching tourism, talks by specialists, guided bird walks and boat trips on the estuary, and illustration workshops for children and adults.

On Saturday there’s a screening of the documentary The Spoonbill in a Stirring World. It follows the Eurasian spoonbill’s migration from the Netherlands to its wintering grounds, including the Ría del Eo itself. The event closes on Sunday with the planting of a native woodland, in collaboration with the Fundación Oso Pardo, to offset the event’s carbon footprint.

Prior registration is required via the form at castropol.es or on Castropol Town Council’s social media.
For more information, email turismo@castropol.es or call +34 684 60 24 08.

If you’d like to enjoy the event at a relaxed pace, La Casona de Amaido in San Tirso de Abres is a great base for exploring the Ría del Eo.
