Holy Week arrives packed with activities in our region and surroundings. Here’s a quick overview of everything you can enjoy from April 2nd to 5th.
Thursday, April 2nd – Holy Thursday
The Living Way of the Cross in Villanueva de Oscos promises to be one of the highlights of the week: from 6pm, a parade of the Praetorian Guard of Lugo, and at 7pm the performance with live music. Afterwards, traditional zorza, potatoes and a street party at the sports centre.
Also in Castropol, the XV Prawns and Razor Clams Festival kicks off at the Sailing Club (running through Sunday), and in San Tirso de Abres, the Roscas Fair begins, with a programme of workshops, bagpipes and tastings.
Friday, April 3rd — Good Friday
Santa Eulalia de Oscos hosts the XXV Crafts and Agri-food Products Fair: live music with the El Trasno Bagpipe Band in the morning, free workshops on blacksmithing, beeswax candles and wickerwork, and in the evening Dúo El Puma from 8pm.
In Rinlo, the III Mussel Festival fills the Plaza de San Pedro from 12:30pm, with performances by Festicultores Troupe and Alejandro Martínez.
Saturday, April 4th
Taramundi celebrates the XXIX Cheese and Local Products Fair, from 11am to 3pm at the Municipal Sports Centre. Don’t miss it if you’re a fan of Asturian artisan cheese.
Throughout the whole week
The region offers a full calendar of tourist resources: museums, free guided tours of Castropol and Figueras, boat trips along the Eo Estuary, the Os Teixois Ethnographic Complex, the birthplace of the Marquis of Sargadelos and much more. The Vegadeo Tourist Office is open from April 1st to 5th, from 10am to 2pm.
And of course, at Restaurante Amaido we’ll be waiting for you Wednesday to Saturday: from 9am to 3:30pm and from 8pm to 11:00pm. We look forward to seeing you!
